The Sporting Kansas City Special Events Coordinator is directly responsible for the Children’s Mercy Park stadium tour program, coordinating internal events across departments and assisting the Director of Special Events to plan, execute, and settle public events hosted by Sporting Kansas City both on and off site. The Coordinator will work with Director, Special Events to enhance current events as well as plan and execute new, revenue generating events for the Club. The ideal candidate for this position is a visionary with a penchant for creating new and innovative experiences, while having the business prowess and financial know how to operate these events efficiently. With goals based on both ingenuity and revenue gains, the candidate will need to exhibit a high level of creativity while simultaneously building the bottom line.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work interdepartmentally to plan and execute internal private events.

  • Manage the stadium calendar to coordinate events, tours and site visit requests

  • Operate the stadium tour program for Children’s Mercy Park.

  • Assist Director in creating, planning, and executing public events at Sporting Kansas City’s facilities as well as around the Kansas City metro.

  • Assist in content creation and executing the marketing plan via all social media channels

  • Drive the activation of event marketing before matches and at outside venues

  • Build relationships with a network of planners and vendors in the Kansas City market.

  • Achieve both gross revenue and net operating income goals.

  • This position reports to the Director, Special Events.

  • This position will require some nights and weekend work.

  • Match Day Responsibilities as needed.


  • Passion for event planning and operations

  • Food and Beverage experience a plus

  • Attention to detail and sense of urgency

  • Customer Service Oriented

  • Ability to navigate systems with training

  • General understanding of profit and loss calculations
