Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, Sporting Kansas City’s Project Management Specialist will be part of the club’s communications staff which oversees all public relations and communications efforts for the Major League Soccer team, including its coaches, players, ownership, executives and facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Lead planning and execution for communications events, including Media Day, Media Game, open trainings, town halls, 2013 MLS Cup reunion, special events, etc. Will work closely with VP, Events Amanda Maguire

  • Foster relationships with non-sports media and community stakeholders through pro-active pitching and networking

  • Collaborate with internal departments including corporate partnership and ticketing teams for activations, promotions, etc., plus ownership

  • Producing written content for internal and external communications channels, including club website

  • Overseeing media monitoring to clip and compile earned media coverage across television, radio, print and digital publications

  • Assist with requests from key stakeholders for merchandise fulfillment, value in kind arrangements and other donations

  • Other duties as assigned by department leadership

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of four years of experience in related field or industry

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write the English language

  • Spanish fluency a plus

Match Day Responsibilities

  • Liaison for key VIPs, ownership requests, etc.

  • Full-time associates act as representatives of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches

  • Support communications staff with media interviews before, during and after matches

  • Assist communications staff with media operations, including accreditation and media spaces (e.g. photo work room, press box, etc.)

  • Contribute to matchday content, including match recaps, social coverage and quote sheets

  • Research and distribute statistics and milestones to broadcasters, media and internal editorial teams
