This position will be responsible for the development and coordination of our Adult Resettlement Programme, working with offenders, supporting their transition from HMP Winchester back into being fully integrated members of the Community of Southampton.

In this position you will use the power of the Southampton FC brand and the value of participation to help offenders make positive change to reduce the risk of re-offending. By engaging them in constructive activities, including but not limited to sports, mentoring, educational and personal development sessions.

What will you be doing?

We’re excited to be working in partnership with HMP Winchester to design a resettlement programme that allows offenders within HMP Winchester the opportunity to develop personal skills and behaviours, whilst supporting the positive transition back into the community of Southampton.

You will lead delivery within HMP Winchester and community settings, delivering group based and 1 to 1 mentoring, including sporting and non-sporting sessions. Working closely with HMP Winchester staff, you will identify and highlight key areas of focus that will help reduce re-offending once released from prison. You will also need to develop effective working relationships to raise the profile of the Adult Resettlement Programme while engaging and consulting with local communities to improve the delivery of opportunities and services when the participants leave HMP Winchester.

You will ensure the Adult Resettlement Project is delivered within the prescribed budget, monitoring project spend and updating records in accordance with both the charity and funders requirements and work closely with the Impact and Insights Manager to ensure monitoring and evaluation is in accordance with the charities reporting tools and the needs of each partner, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting of data as and when required.

Person Specification:

  • To hold experience of working within a prison setting and/or working with offenders, with the ability to facilitate group workshops, linked to employability and life skills.

  • To have a good understanding of the challenges that prisoners potentially face when being resettled in the community.

  • To have the ability to prioritise and balance all elements of project work, ensuring key tasks are completed in accordance with the projects needs.

  • To be able to deal with challenging environments, ensuring a calm and consistent manner is adhered too. Experience of successfully delivering community-based projects, that is demonstrated through the achievement of KPIs and Outcomes.


  • To hold or be working towards the Level 2 Multi-Skills qualification or a UKCC level 2 in any sport
