Primary Objective: The Rehabilitation/Return to Play Specialist will serve as a part of a comprehensive team in a high-performance professional baseball setting. This position is responsible for optimizing rehabilitation and return-to-play programs for injured athletes within the Minor Leagues as well as working proactively to prevent injuries utilizing a collaborative and progressive approach in conjunction with other HP members. During the off-season this position will be based out of the Mariners Peoria, AZ facility within our Rehab/Return to Play department. During the championship season (April-September), this position will serve at an affiliate location (likely AAA-Tacoma).
The physical therapist will work alongside the affiliate athletic trainer to provide medical coverage and assist in the rehabilitation and return to play of minor league players as well as MLB players assigned to affiliates for a rehab assignment.
Oversee return to play process for Minor League rehabbing players using collaborative approach which will include all members of the HP Team (medical, performance, mental skills, strategists, nutrition, sport science).
Ensure consistency of instruction from medical and performance team in exercise delivery
Develop and implement long-term plans for players on rehab assignment
Communicate with all Team & Consulting Physicians on medical management of minor league players’ injuries and return to play programming including but not limited to attending medical appointments, surgeries, imaging appointments, etc as needed.
Communicate daily with the Manager of Rehabilitation and Return to Play regarding injured players and their progressions under your care
Coordinate off-season rehabilitation and return to play programs for Minor League Players
Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation.
Assist with other administrative duties as assigned
Assist in conducting spring training, draft, and end of season physicals throughout the organization
Assist the Minor League Medical Coordinator with scheduling of doctors appointments, surgical consults, surgeries and follow-up appointments.
Education and Experience:
Current licenses and certifications – PT/DPT preferred, CSCS or equivalent preferred
Previous professional sports experience preferred
Must be eligible for all federal and/or state licenses required to practice
Spanish proficiency preferred

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by MLB and any other governing body is of paramount importance to this position.
Physical Activities and Working Conditions Necessary to Perform Essential Functions:
Position may require individual to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Position may require travel.
