Position Summary

The Developer will be a part of the Hockey Operations Research & Development team and responsible for helping to grow and develop our internal Hockey Operations systems and applications. The Developer should be comfortable taking a defined deliverable and working on it independently to a decent degree of quality. This position will focus mainly on front-end platforms with some back-end development required. To excel in this role, the applicant should be a self-starter excited to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop new user-facing features and tools using React.js for use by the Hockey Operations Department (Management, Scouts, Coaches, and others)

  • Design and build reusable React front-end components

  • Provide user support to Hockey Operations employees as necessary

  • Collaborate with Data Engineer and other members of the R&D team to ensure data is accurate and up to date.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, graduation from a relevant bootcamp, or equivalent experience/certifications

  • 6+ months of prior professional development experience

  • Familiar with building responsive layouts using CSS/HTML

  • Experience developing using React.js, or similar technology

  • Familiarity or experience with Yarn or NPM

  • Familiarity or experience with GraphQL

  • Experience with GitHub or other version control systems

  • Strong communication skills and a love of collaboration

  • Must be available some evening and weekends to support games remotely

  • A desire to learn, grow, and be mentored

Nice to have

  • A passion for design and UX

  • Experience with React Native

  • Experience with AWS services such as Cognito, Amplify

  • Experience with Next.js or Remix

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS

  • Passion for hockey or sports

Working Conditions

  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays as required
