The trackside tyre performance engineer is responsible for attending all races and test events and is responsible for the management of all operations related to tyre set-up and preparation in close collaboration with tyre technicians to make the best usage of tyres during race and test events. The trackside tyre performance engineer is responsible for all the analysis on-track for supporting the race engineering group to ensure maximum tyre performance, for conducting pre-event, in-event and post-event tyre related analysis and simulation work and for the improvement and development of the tyre analysis tools for the trackside activities.

TYRE ANALYSIS

  • Manage and monitor tyre operations to guarantee the best preparation and usage of tyres during the events

  • Analyse tyre data to provide quantified and data driven recommendations for improving car performance and tyre usage

  • Use and develop tyre analysis methodologies for the tyre engineering group and for implementation in the VPG analysis tool framework

TYRE SIMULATION

  • Support the tyre modelling activities for tyre model correlation and simulation tools development

  • Support correlation work with simulator activity to consolidate pre-event tyre performance prediction and car development

COLLABORATION

  • Collaborate with Race Engineering group and other Vehicle Performance groups to support car setup definition and race strategy decision making process

  • Create a strong collaboration and communication with factory-based tyre engineers

  • Act as a tyre liaison engineer with the tyre supplier on technical matters on track

FLEXIBILITY&ORGANIZATION

  • Execute the day-to-day tasks when on-track, providing regular tyre related feedback

  • Provide flexible trackside attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the VPG activities

  • Always work in a professional manner regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department/team/sponsors

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • Good knowledge of tyre engineering, working in a motorsport environment or in a motorsport team, working for a tyre manufacturer is a plus

  • Good understanding of vehicle dynamics

  • Good knowledge of telemetry tools and data analysis

  • Ability to respect deadline for reporting information and analysis

  • Ability to work with the team, external groups, and colleagues with a strong team spirit

  • Self-organized and pro-active

  • Ability to travel and work under pressure

  • Ability to problem solving and quickly react to a continuous demanding environment
