The San Francisco Giants are seeking a Performance Cook to join the Baseball Operations team within the Performance Nutrition department.

The position will report directly to the Executive Performance Chef. The Performance Cook will work under the direction and collaboration of the Executive Performance Chef to streamline the communication of most recent sports medicine and nutrition research, culinary experience, nutrition guidelines and sports science data to assist in driving a PERFORMANCE DRIVEN FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM tailored specifically to the needs of the San Francisco Giants Players and Staff.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Complete Preparation list provided by the Executive Performance Chef.

  • Execution of Prepared Meals for Staff & Baseball Players under time restraints.

  • Execution and Knowledge of cooking International Cuisines.

  • Daily tasks which may include protein butchery / vegetable preparation / Carbohydrate preparation

  • Help receive all incoming orders

  • Clean as you go while following all kitchen policies and procedures set forth by the Executive Performance Chef.

  • Adhere to state & CDC requirements around COVID-19 to prevent and reduce the risk of virus exposure to co-workers, staff, and baseball players.

  • Support all prep, cooking, and front of house duties as directed by the Executive Performance Chef.

  • Ensure the daily operation of the back of house adheres to operating procedure guidelines

  • Perform food preparation tasks for all fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, fish, etc. used in recipes

  • Prepare all food items per recipe guidelines, tasting and adjusting for flavor with assistance of chef

  • Ensure back of house area adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service

  • Maintain appropriate levels of necessary dishes and utensils; keep all dishware used in cooking and serving clean and sanitary at all times

  • Monitor supply levels in back of house area and replenish as necessary

  • Monitor equipment operation, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, and call for repairs as necessary

  • Ensure compliance with all food-handling and sanitation regulations

  • Take the most effective role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ Kitchen experience. Experience working with sports teams preferred.

  • Graduate of a culinary institute. Nutrition Certification a plus.

  • Food Handler’s Certificate according to local and state law.

  • Knowledgeable in culinary terms, knife skills and safe food handling.

  • Understands and complies with food safety and temperature standards.

  • Able to work non-traditional hours and remain flexible regarding work schedule.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to work quickly in a fast-moving environment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25+ lbs.

  • This is a year-round position with possibility of work occurring during holidays, weekends, non-traditional schedule

  • Pass a background check.
