About the Role:

The San Francisco Giants is looking for a Manager of Fleet and Irrigation, where you will have the unique opportunity to service and maintain the fleet of equipment that supports the maintenance of the professional playing surfaces at our minor league training grounds in Phoenix, AZ. You will be responsible for irrigation troubleshooting and repair as it relates to the pump and valve systems to ensure efficient use of our water. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to provide preventative maintenance for our fleet of equipment and diagnose equipment related issues as needed in the field to provide a clear path to keeping our operation moving forward. This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Minor League Field Operations. This position will be located at our brand-new Spring Training Facility in Phoenix, AZ.

  • You can safely operate all equipment in the fleet.

  • You’re willing to participate in group project-based work when needed (i.e. overseed/ aerification/ topdressing/ verticutting/ irrigation repair).

  • 5 years of general mechanic experience in the turf industry.

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials and tools specific to the mechanical repair of turf equipment.

  • Knowledge of both gasoline and diesel engine components.

  • Ability to inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic defects on turf related equipment.

  • Experience in reel grinding maintenance.

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and material (75-100lbs).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to Rain Bird valves.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot pump faults, perform basic repairs to keep irrigation system operational. Capable of welding as well as copper fitting repairs.

  • Valid Arizona Driver License.

  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationship.

  • Ability to work extended hours during spring training. Nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
