Your role as a Desktop Support Specialist:
Act as first-level support for technology issues affecting internal and external staff; consistently strive to promote a strong customer service image within the organization. Work with the IT team to build trust and positive working relationships by providing timely support to the end-user community courteously and professionally. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, thorough, and effective troubleshooter with excellent technical and strong customer service skills.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guest expectations
Provides support to Padres staff for technology-related issues
Manages escalation of major issues to third-party support personnel
Performs maintenance of hardware and software on desktops and laptops
Maintains technical proficiency on all Padres end-user computing platforms: personal computers and laptops, Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, internet applications, scouting system, accounting applications, CRM, and other customized applications
Assists with large hardware and software installations
Updates and makes status changes to assigned Help Desk tickets in the management portal
Works as “apprentice” to System Administrator and Network Manager to continuously expand skill set
Aids with IT projects as needed
Participate in day-of-game, non-baseball events, and after-hours support rotation schedules
Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times
Other duties as assigned
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
Being consistent, punctual, and have reliable attendance
Being proficient computer skills: ability to quickly adapt to and learn new programs, systems, and/or processes
Having a strong ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Having previous experience working with Microsoft Windows environment is a plus but not necessary
Mac OSX experience a plus but not necessary
Ability to effectively diagnose and repair computer hardware and software problems is a plus but not necessary
You will be required to meet the following:
Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
2-year Associate Degree, or education equivalent, preferably in Information Technology
Minimum 1 year previous experience
Excellent general computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones, computers)
Mac OSX experience a plus
Ability to work well with people in a support and training role
Ability to effectively diagnose and repair computer hardware and software problems
Understanding of computer networking concepts
Ability to explain basic concepts or procedures in a clear, concise, easy-to-understand manner for a large and diverse customer base who utilize a wide variety of in-house developed and off-the-shelf applications
Strong collaboration, communication, time management and organizational skills
Proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
Excellent written and verbal skills. Proven ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar
Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Possess high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability
Consistent, punctual and regular attendance
Professional image and demeanor
Strong ability to work with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed
Able to travel as needed
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Salary and additional compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly range for this full-time position is $17.91 to $19.25. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
