DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the ballpark audio system, including the BSS Networked Audio System, Amplifiers, Audio Architect Software, QL5 mixer and serves as the A1 during Padres baseball and non-baseball events for Petco Park.

  • Operates and maintains various audio mixing boards, microphones, and speaker setups; and controls audio within the ballpark and event spaces during games and Petco Park Events, works as a team and independently on audio setups

  • Operates and troubleshoots audio issues, maintains audio equipment (Speakers, Microphones, cables) while keeping detailed inventory of equipment

  • Ensures and monitors game and event audio feeds are at the preferred volume levels

  • Performs sound checks for anthems and other musical talent showcased at the ballpark

  • Records and edits audio tracks for gate loop audio, music videos, voice overs, commercials, podcasts

  • Works with Ballpark Management, as needed, to set up a combination of a local audio system and the house system for various events

  • Fulfills other control room functions as needed for Padres games and all in-stadium entertainment, working with the DJ’s to offer the best sound experience possible for the fans

  • Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Broadcasting & Presentation, Director of Game Presentation, Senior Manager of Videoboard Operations, Sr Manager of Scoreboard Operations, and the Manager of Engineering

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or 4 years' experience in equivalent relevant job education in audio production, entertainment/scoreboard/TV station/hotel control room facility

  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in audio system flow and operation of: Microphones, Speakers, Amplifiers and Digital/Analog Audio Mixers

  • Expert understanding of Mic and Line input signal flow. Intermediate knowledge of software for distributed audio systems

  • General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones, computers)

  • Must have strong knowledge of baseball and the Padres organization.

  • Ability to quickly react to game action with attention to detail

  • Professional image and demeanor

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

  • Strong ability to work with others in a collaborative, respectful manner with energetic personality

  • Strong collaboration, communication, time management and organizational skills. Proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines

  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, during Padres home/road games and other special events holidays as needed

  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds

  • As a condition of employment, the job candidate(s) must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check, drug screen and provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus booster.
