As our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Manager, you’ll support in designing and driving creative ways to retain, develop and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all areas of the organization. A significant part of the role is to promote and support the development of training programs to enhance employee understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion. You will plan and coordinate projects, working effectively across teams to align diversity and inclusion efforts with organizational goals.
This role is an on-site position. Currently, the Portland Trail Blazers work in a hybrid environment, with three days in the office and two days remote.
You will be responsible for the following:
Lead and develop internal diversity, equity, and inclusion learning initiatives, programs, and trainings for internal staff.
Collaborate within the department to develop and execute logistics of special internal events, including internal speaker series and other DEI-specific employee engagement initiatives such as Rip City Unplugged and Heritage Month Celebrations
Supporting the expansion of DEI efforts using internal storytelling, external communication through social media, the DEI website, and varying media channels aimed at sharing all the company’s impact work in an engaging and creative way.
Project manage Racial Equity Project in close partnership with the Community Programs team and special events as they arise.
Own the logistics and evolution of Celebration Nights (Latinx and Hispanic History, Pride Night, Black History Night, HBCU Night, AAPI Heritage Night, Women’s History Night)
Cultivate and develop relationships with Portland area Employee Resource Group Leads for joint engagement opportunities and to build more extensive networks for diverse staff.
Liaise with and support the Ally Council, Inclusion Board, and Business Resource Groups in addition to providing feedback on identity-based initiatives, celebration nights, and engagement as needed.
Partner with People & Culture to onboard new employees, as well as assist with cultivating diverse talent pools by creating relationships with Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI), and Asian American, Native American, Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI).
We’d like to hear from you if:
You have a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent in a related field.
You have a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in community outreach and/or work reflecting a passion for actively supporting underserved communities.
You have learning and development or training experience
You have project management (and/or event management) experience
You have experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion
You have experience working or volunteering in the environmental field
You have a demonstrated history of success in providing outstanding customer service and building positive relationships
You provide a solid cross-functional consultative presence and the ability to influence critical partners
You have strong organizational skills and can handle a fast-paced environment with a lot to juggle
You possess excellent communication skills and can effectively turn conflict into collaboration.
You have strong technical skills with proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends
