The Pittsburgh Penguins seek a Data Architect to support data and technology initiatives for business operations. The position will manage the oversight of data infrastructure and processes critical to the Business Intelligence and Analytics team and all other business units. The role will be responsible for expanding, optimizing, and supporting our data environment and ETL pipeline architecture along with assisting in the data architecture with the club’s data warehouse provider and the IT department. The data architect must have a highly technical background, familiar with ETL processes, relational database and design principals, cloud architectures, and API solutions.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Identify, design, document, and implement internal process improvements: data infrastructure design, automating manual processes, optimizing data ingress and egress, and data quality assurance
Create and maintain ETL Pipelines from various internal and external data sources to data warehouse and raw analytics environments using SQL and big data technologies
Design and build integrations for existing applications and develop ETL processes to build enhancements into new and existing dimensional models
Maintain, support, and improve data analytics platforms and storage systems
Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Marketing, Data, IT, and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
Audit end-user data requests and ETL jobs in our analytics environments and run data quality and validation tests between transformed data and source systems
Ensure database integrity, work with IT data integrity audits, enforce standards and prevent duplicate data
Work with Business Intelligence and Analytics team to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
Ideal Candidate should possess many of the following qualifications:
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in an IT consulting, IT analyst, or database management role
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, query authoring (SQL) as well as working with a variety of databases
Experience with relational OLTP and OLAP SQL systems: SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Snowflake, etc.
Experience with Data warehousing systems (i.e., Azure Data Warehouse, Snowflake, Amazon RedShift, etc.)
Experience performing database roles both on-prem and cloud data environments
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets, API data extraction and web scraping applications
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (i.e. DBeaver, SSIS)
Experience with CRM Systems (Dynamics 365 preferred)
Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages a plus
Some software development experience preferred
