NJ/NY Gotham FC is a founding member of the National Women's Soccer League in 2013. The team was known as Sky Blue FC from 2008 until 2020.

It’s an exciting time for women’s sports, especially women’s soccer. The NWSL is the fastest growing women’s sport – 1 in 3 Americans is a soccer fan, and 1 in 4 Americans is a women’s soccer fan. Over 60MM minutes were watched on Twitch in 2020, and NWSL viewership grew 493% in the 2021 season.

With growth across every metric, the time is now for the NWSL and Gotham FC. We’re looking for dynamic business leaders who are energized by the prospect of creating the change we wish to see across women’s professional sports.

Position Summary

As a leader on the Gotham partnerships team, the Senior Director, Business Development will be responsible for strategizing, building, and executing an end-to-end partnership sales and retention strategy from short-term to long-term. This position will report to the SVP Partnerships, In-Game Experience, and Community and will be responsible for building and nurturing senior level client relationships and delivering against new business sales goals.


  • Prospect, develop, and sell new integrated business partnerships to achieve and exceed sales goals

  • Develop meaningful relationships with key decision makers at brands to create long-lasting partnerships designed to grow the women’s game and the Gotham brand

  • Build the platform suite of available sponsorship assets and monitor inventory to maximize revenue and create meaningful relationships

  • Create sales presentations and custom partnership opportunities that deliver against partner business goals

  • Engage organization to ideate platforms and build proposals that enable Gotham to further build the brand of the team and its players

  • Negotiate sponsorship deals from conversation inception to final contract

  • Oversee partnership announcements and transition meetings to the Partnership Marketing team

  • Manage pipeline and inventory updates with upper management and ownership

  • Attend networking and promotional events to prospect and maintain contact with potential clients and professional partners

  • Hold substantial number of “decision maker” brand contacts in the NY metro area

  • Knowledge of sports and entertainment sponsorship, including promotions, events, media, and contracts

  • Ability to bring a brand rep through the full sales funnel, from lead generation to closing

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment and form strong relationships with colleagues, clients, agencies, and sports organizations

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to read the room, tailoring your approach to the conversation based on the audience

  • Superior negotiating and presentation skills

  • Self-starter, but team player who’s hungry and excited to drive the growth of women’s soccer in the region and globally

  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.

  • 9+ years of professional sponsorship experience in a high-performance sales environment; Sports, Entertainment, and/or Arena Industry experience preferred.
