This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for talented individuals to help us identify and recruit our next generation of talent. As such, we are looking for an experienced and innovative Scouting Lead (South) to identify, assess, and at times participate, in the preliminary stages of negotiation on potential target players.
Reporting to the UK Scouting Lead U13-U18 you will lead a team of regional scouts to identify talent capable of playing for the Club’s Academy with the long term potential for the First Team, presenting key talent to the UK Scouting Lead U13-U18. You will ensure that the recruitment of these players adhere to EPPP and PL guidelines.
Joining our busy Recruitment and Scouting Team, you will manage your team within the region to deliver scheduled coverage of games for target players, high quality documentation and a high level of communication within the team to prioritise workflow and potential targets.
You will Identify new potential targets, occasionally unrelated to data, and place the new target player into a dynamic workflow within the department. This will be achieved by analysing prospective target players through a variety of games at varying levels within the UK, and abroad, as required. In the delivery of these aims you will foster a dynamic ethos within the team of regional scouts that is aligned with the target driven expectations and standards of the UK Scouting Lead and the Head of Youth Recruitment.
You will need to work collaboratively and build and maintain relationships gaining new contacts on a regular basis to drive forward the department. You will develop and deliver presentations with confidence and clarity to engage and influence appropriate people within the process of recruitment.
As such you will possess considerable experience in the identification of young players and an excellent knowledge of player potential and performance. A good knowledge of football with regards to game models, playing styles and profiles of technical, tactical, physical, physiological traits within the potential targets is essential.
Possession of the FA Talent ID Level 2 certification (or equivalent) is essential, with FA Talent ID Level 3 (or equivalent) being highly desirable. A full UK driving licence is also essential.
We are very passionate about our values and on occasion, you may be required to travel to Newcastle regarding a potential target to help induct players and families into the Academy ethos and values; ensuring team working concept is at the forefront of strategy in relationships internally and externally.
The nature of this role also means that unsocial hours working and travel are a key element of the position.
With a competitive salary, an employee bonus scheme and a wide range of benefits this is an excellent opportunity to join our Newcastle United family.
