Who are we hiring?
This role is primarily responsible for the accounting operations of MSG Sports including preparation and recording of required journal entries, timely and accurate recognition of sports teams revenue (primarily suites and hospitality, as well as ticketing, food and beverage and merchandise), quarterly and annual financial close processes, monitoring of financial results to facilitate financial analysis, effective operation and monitoring of the Company’s Internal Control Over Financial Reporting with respect to MSG Sports and facilitation of the external audit process.
What will you do?
Review new suites and hospitality contracts;
Analyze and model of suites contracts for revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606;
Liaise with business operations related to suites and hospitality support;
Review Accounts receivable aging review/liaise with collections team;
Preparation, review and posting of journal entries related to suites and hospitality, ticketing, food & beverage, and merchandise revenues and direct costs;
Review of revenue transactions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of sales activity;
Perform research and provide support for technical accounting analysis with respect to significant transactions impacting MSG Sports, particularly revenue recognition;
Responsible for month end close activities with respect to suites and hospitality, as well as ticketing, food and beverage and merchandise including but not limited to:
Monthly preparation and/or review of general ledger posting revenue and related accruals and prepaids,
Review of balance sheet reconciliations,
Preparation of income statement and balance sheet variance analyses,
Related Party Transactions Support, including management of payments and application/allocation between MSGS and MSGE;
Evaluates and identifies areas of potential exposure and internal control weaknesses,
Will work with both internal and external auditors in providing them with required information during quarterly reviews and annual audits;
Special projects as necessary;
Strict adherence to the timelines established for all reporting.

Senior Staff Accountant
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree preferred in business/accounting or related field
Public/private background with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
8-10 years accounting experience
Strong analytical skills
CPA preferred
Must be proficient in Excel and possess knowledge of automated environments.
Experience in building and/or utilizing data transformation tools a plus
