What you’ll do
A Network Engineer at the Mets provides a range of services essential for the efficient operation of a client and fan focused technology service model. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide outstanding customer service and support, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a global team. He or she will be energetic and enthusiastic, with an ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues, provide clear guidance and offer advice with patience and empathy. Our engineers deliver best in class customer service while managing and prioritizing their workload. The ideal candidate will show the eagerness to learn the latest technology while also possessing the aptitude to learn new skills and technology concepts. He or she will further demonstrate proficiency in voice, mobile technology, Microsoft Windows based systems, as well as the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
What’s required: You will work within a team environment to provide best in class technology services to clients across the Firm. The team provides a full range of IT related services, including PCs, laptops, video conferencing solutions, software and mobile devices. You should be inquisitive and have a desire to test your limits with new technologies. You should also possess the following attributes:
At least 2 - 5 years of data communications and networking experience.
Extensive knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies (Gigabit Ethernet, L2/L3 Switching, VLANs).
Experience in security related fields (firewalls, IDP, VPN, network access control, Palo Alto, and secure web gateway devices)
Detailed knowledge of LAN/WAN Network Protocols which include HSRP, VRRP, TCP/IP, 802.1Q, IPSec, VLAN, and VPN.
Knowledge of routing protocols which include BGP, OSPF, RIP, etc..
Knowledge of Fabric Networking/Fabric Attached Networking; IS-IS and Shortest Path Bridging.
Working experience of IPSec/SSL VPN technologies.
Experience with WLAN infrastructure design and support.
Provide review of functional specifications and design documentation for effective deployment and operation of network services.
Prepare documentation supporting network requirements, connectivity, implementation and testing.
Strong troubleshooting skills
Project management experience.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Task oriented individual, capable of taking ownership of projects and bringing them to fruition.
Experience with Extreme Network Switches a plus.
History working on Nortel/Avaya switching and routing a plus.
Provide event support as needed (may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays).
Your responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the engineering, installation, and maintenance of one or several of the following disciplines: Local and Wide Area Networks, Data Centers, VOIP Networks, Virtual Infrastructure, Security Appliances, and Wireless Networks.
Install, support, and configure Extreme routers and switches as well as all necessary security solutions.
Provide ongoing network maintenance, including updates and security patches.
Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential network performance issues.
Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
Evaluate new network technology.
Assist with the planning and design of future network architecture.
Network monitoring, management and troubleshooting with various tools
Network Performance Monitor, Netflow Traffic Analyzer and protocol analyzer.
Assist/Support other network related tasks/requirements as directed by the Manager.
Available on-call to assist with trouble tickets as needed
Manage projects and deliver on time with periodic status reports to management.
Manage and coordinate installation of new data services
Manage all data center/infrastructure fiber and Ethernet cabling.
Support other Technology Teams during Moves, Adds and Changes.
Support relationships with vendors and partners
Interact with other Technology teams regarding new application deployments and service installations.
Your daily activities will include:
Document and track all Incidents, Problems and Requests
Provide written documentation, updates and root cause analysis on IT issues to management as required
Create knowledgebase articles for newly discovered issues.
Proactively monitor the networking infrastructure consisting of ~ 50 - 75 nodes
Perform daily AM and PM system checks as per documented procedures
Create and distribute status reports
