Summary:
The Major League Mental Performance Coach is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the mental performance system and staff across the New York Mets organization as well as the implementation of mental performance practices and initiatives with the Major League Baseball team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field.
Post-graduate degree in Sport Psychology or Cognitive Science is preferred.
5+ years of full-time experience in a similar role working with elite athletes.
Demonstrated history of strong leadership and management skills.
Experience conducting mental performance workshops with large groups, teams, and individual players.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Up to date knowledge of latest trends and leading practices in sport psychology and high-performance sport.
A positive personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals.
Previous baseball experience is preferred.
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Must be able to work unconventional hours.
Qualifications:
Development and oversight of a mental performance enhancement system designed to create a growth-minded performance environment and maximize the mental performance abilities of New York Mets players across the organization.
Develop and lead the vision for the departmental approach to impacting player’s mental performance abilities.
Function as the Mental Performance Coach for the Major League Baseball team.
Collaborate with the Front Office, Field Staff, and Performance Staff on player development initiatives.
Routinely collaborate with other areas of the Performance Department to develop solutions that positively impact the performance of New York Mets players.
Develop and deliver engaging mental performance training and education based on team and individual player needs.
Provide assessments of team and individual player mindset and behavioral patterns for the purpose of providing targeted mindset development plans.
