The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fanbase. We are hiring a Manager, Retail Operations. If you are a passionate about building your retail career in the sports & entertainment industry, then we want to get to know you.

How to Make the Team

Bring your strong organizational and communication skills as you take ownership of the daily and game/event day operation of all the retail locations and execute with an exceptional level of commitment and attention to detail. You will report directly to the Director of Retail Operations and will engage frequently with members of all departments.

As the Manager, Retail Operations you will lead the strategy, oversight and execution of all frontline operations, applying your knowledge across our store staff and POS system. Your experience leading a team will help nurture and develop the retail staff.

Show Us You Can

  • Drive in-store fan experience

  • Demonstrates and trains strong selling behaviors

  • Monitor and manage the retail sales floor and cash wrap areas in all locations to ensure that customers are receiving an exceptional fan experience, the store presentation is clean and organized and safety standards are maintained throughout the retail stores, kiosks and portables

  • Troubleshoots customer issues as needed

  • Manage, lead and delegate store opening and closing tasks and processes

  • Effectively communicate store updates to retail front office and Islanders Team Store staff

  • Lead and maintain Islanders Team Store merchandising standards

  • Work closely with the Retail team to project & place new orders and replenish low inventory items

  • Responsible for game, weekly & monthly recaps, reporting & key takeaways

  • Process payroll for store staff

  • Plan schedule for store staff

  • Developing retail promotions to stimulate sell-through of products

  • Hire, train and manage a team of store associates

  • Support and collaborate with Sponsorship, Ticketing, Premium, Marketing, Game Presentation, Hockey operations, and other departments as required

Your Training & Talent

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

  • 2-3 years of experience in a retail environment

  • Experience leading and managing a team

  • Strong decision making, organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-changing environment

  • Able to maintain and build effective relationships with cross-functional team

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience & proficiency with Shopify E-commerce, Retail POS and management systems, Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and events as needed

  • Previous experience in retail at a sports team a plus

  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
