The Vice President of IT Infrastructure & Operations is responsible for the NFL’s technology, services, and technical teams delivering the enterprise IT infrastructure and operations. The scope encompasses all infrastructure components including networking (LAN/WAN/Edge), compute, storage, platform, b2b identity, and technical facilities.
The successful candidate is a confident leader who can develop, execute, and maintain NFL technology and services that use a combination of internal/external resources, cloud platforms, and automation with a deliberate focus on resiliency, quality of service, and efficiency (cost/effort to maintain).
The Vice President of IT Infrastructure & Operations is a collaborative, hands-on capable technical leader who is engaged in the enterprise architecture, engineering, and IT operations work. This individual is well versed in all domains within their scope and can lead engineers and operations staff based on experience and continuous learning.
It is essential the successful candidate demonstrate the ability to develop technical talent and manage the strengths of their team to meet the fast-moving opportunities and challenges presented by a diverse and broad scope of platforms, services, and solutions. Responsibilities
Responsible for the shared IT enterprise infrastructure that consists of cloud, on-prem, and co-located equipment, platforms, and service
The end-to-end lifecycle and operations of NFL infrastructure and platforms
Meeting and exceeding service level agreements, objectives, and performance expectations
NFL IT infrastructure includes service delivery to broadcast and media stakeholders, gameday football technology, stadiums, and NFL events
Leads the enterprise IT engineering and operations teams within the scope, around 50 resources total including FTE, managed service provider, and staffing agency personnel
Responsible for IT enterprise infrastructure and service resiliency, business continuity and recovery, data retention and protection
Works across organizational lines and stakeholders to ensure inter-dependent and integrated components for IT services are accounted for whether owned/operated internally, by vendors, external entities, partner or franchises
Responsible for the infrastructure and technical service area budgets within scope
Plans budgets in collaboration with IT leadership
Manages budget in alignment with the larger IT department and NFL business strategy
Tracks and reports on budget in collaboration with Finance manager
Implements and uses metrics to identify improvement opportunities and monitor performance success, evolves metrics with the changing technology landscape and needs of the business
Implements and maintains a multi-resource (internal/external staffing) and business efficient IT infrastructure engineering and operations program
Owns managed service vendor relationships and statements of work within immediate scope
Owner and executor of multi-year road maps for people, process, and technology within scope
Ensures road maps and strategic direction are aligned with NFL business goals and the direction of IT leadership
Works collaboratively with peer IT and cross-organization leaders on road maps and long-term technology plans
Actively partners with the Information Security Office (ISO) of the NFL to meet and exceed NFL cyber security goals and objectives
Accountable for patching/updates and vulnerability remediation within scope in partnership with ISO
Accountable for engineering and operations partnership and engagement with ISO technical and program resources, incident response, incident remediation, forensics, and joint operations
Maintains an open and consistent dialogue with the ISO regarding daily operations and long-term technical road maps, incorporates security principles and requirements at design and through the lifecycle of systems within scope
Responsible and accountable for acquisition (RFP/RFI, contracts), implementation, management, support, documentation, training, communications, resilience, and integration within scope
Responsible for and maintains a team that is both internally and with its business and client relationships; inclusive, transparent, and highly connected
Responsible for the incident, change, request, asset, and problem management processes within scope of service management
Senior participant and voter on the IT change board
Uses established shared IT platforms for incident, change, request, asset, problem, project, and program management and collaborates with accountable service owners for implementing infrastructure needs into platforms/programs
Maintains a highly responsive and engaged 24x7 hour, year-round customer and business-oriented service standard
Maintains extensive documentation and delivers updates and reporting to IT and executive leadership with meaningful metrics and insights for scope of work and services
Required Qualifications
12+ years leading IT infrastructure and operations teams
12+ years leading enterprise architecture for infrastructure, platforms, and applications in complex, multi-stakeholder, shared service environments
10+ years leading engineering and operations for complex hybrid infrastructures, cloud, hosted, on-prem
10+ years leading data center and remote technical installations and environments including remote sites, branch offices, temporary locations, including making improvements to sites to meet and exceed minimum operational qualifications
7+ years planning, managing and responsibility for year over year performance of an IT infrastructure and operations budget
preferred candidate has managed budgets more than 5M$
Advanced experience incorporating Cyber Security policies and requirements
Advanced experience developing and leading IT BCRS and DR processes
Advanced experience and skill determining, implementing, managing to and reporting on SLA, SLO and performance metrics for both internal and external services.
Advanced experience leading technical teams through incidents and resolutions
Reporting status and root cause analysis
Identifying, documenting, and leading continuous improvement through lesson learned
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced working in a shared services model with many stakeholders including franchises
Experienced in leading broadcast and media infrastructure in addition to Enterprise IT
Enterprise contract review and negotiation experience
Proven ability to recruit and retain talent
Experienced working with project and program management offices (PMO)

Salary / Pay Range
