The NFL Media Group is seeking a Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Content Distribution to lead affiliate sales and distribution efforts for NFL Network and NFL RedZone in addition to new content distribution initiatives for NFL Media. This person will be responsible for negotiating complex carriage agreements and managing partnerships with traditional and virtual multi-channel programming distributors (MVPDs/vMVPDs) as well as new content agreements with emerging digital/over-the-top platforms. The candidate must be a strategic and analytical thinker that is able to transform high-level concepts and objectives into practical planning, effective negotiation and tactical implementation. The candidate will be expected to lead the sales team and work effectively across the NFL organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for NFL Network and NFL RedZone that grow consumption, drive distribution and increase revenue

  • Negotiate distribution agreements with new and existing partners

  • Manage all post-deal rollouts, operational and compliance efforts

  • Lead all aspects of the NFL's relationship with MVPDs including day to day interactions, and develop a thorough understanding of client priorities to identify distribution, product and partnership opportunities.

  • Identify and pursue new content distribution opportunities and new models of digital distribution for NFL Media content, including NFL Media’s FAST channel

  • Consistently gather and understand key account information, including pricing/packaging/positioning; business models; new technology/product deployment strategies; strategic partnership and marketing opportunities

  • Identify and secure alternative distribution partners/platforms that provide incremental exposure/revenue for NFL Network or other NFL Media content (e.g., airlines, hotels, colleges/universities, retail)

  • Manage the broadcast syndication of NFL Network exclusive regular season games in participating club markets, including market analysis, bidding process/procedure, marketing commitments and deal execution

  • Oversee all aspects of NFL Network’s video-on-demand (VOD) and TV everywhere (TVE) offerings

  • Oversee all key support functions of the affiliate distribution process including affiliate authorizations, database management, client hospitality/events, industry/client trade conferences, etc.

  • Create and deliver strategic presentations to senior executives inside and outside the organization

  • Collaborate with various NFL departments including legal, finance and business development to analyze/assess key business risks and opportunities

  • Manage and develop the sales team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in affiliate sales and content distribution

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an MBA or JD preferred

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • Affiliate sales and distribution experience

  • Adept at negotiating sound commercial agreements and possessing a solid understanding of contracts

  • Candidates must be able to show proven experience and understanding the broader media landscape

  • Experience in sports or cable television industry preferred

  • General understanding of emerging content distribution trends and business models

  • Proven ability to think strategically and analytically

  • Ability to create and deliver strategic presentations and deal summaries to senior management

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a multi-function organization

  • Experience in leading a sales team

  • Relationships across media industry, especially affiliate landscape

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week
