The NFL is looking for a senior network engineer (SNE) to join our innovative team. The SNE is expected to function as a subject matter expert and make technical decisions on data, voice and video networks supporting critical business services. The SNE will lead efforts for designing, managing, maintaining, and monitoring interconnecting data networks. The SNE configures, documents, and troubleshoots network components for business departments, applications, media workflows, and game related services. The SNE provides proactive support as well as hands on implementation involving network infrastructure and public/private cloud integration. A successful SME will be a self-starter with an ownership attitude and excellent communication skills that is able to work within a team that delivers cutting edge solutions on tight deadlines.
This role may require working weekends, holidays, shifts outside of normal business hours, and overtime. It may also require travel between offices domestically in NY, NJ, and CA, and stadiums throughout North America and Internationally for events and support.
Essential Functions
Hands on configuration, management and maintenance of routers, switches, and load balancers.
Lead research, design, testing, implementation, and documentation for adoption of new network technologies, upgrades, and services.
Ability to provide reports for capacity analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs) of network infrastructure.
Experienced technologist able to understand complexities and interdependencies in infrastructure through to the applications and client layers.
Evaluate quality of audio, video, transport stream and data network signals using various test and measurement equipment.
Leads junior engineers and operations team through deployments, technical escalations, procedures, and project tasks.
Representative for key network technology initiatives leading engagements with staff and vendors.
Responsible for managing and maintaining network road maps, diagrams, configurations, support, and training documentation.
Required Education and Experience
5+ years of experience in a network engineering role.
Expert in LAN/WAN technologies, hardware, software, and routing. Cisco/Arista preferred.
Extensive experience in network performance and security best practices, QOS policies, compression and intrusion prevention and diagnosis.
Extensive experience with management and connectivity to service provider data networks using standards and protocols including OSPF and BGP.
Experience with public cloud network architectures and management (Azure/AWS). Including Direct Connect, Express Route and cloud to cloud architectures.
Strong technical background in a hosted services environment.
Experience with telecom vendor management and service provisioning.
Knowledge of load balancers and SSL accelerators such as F5, A10 or Cisco ACE.
Preferred Education and Experience
8+ years of experience in a network engineering role.
Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).
Experience with configuring and troubleshooting VPN, DMVPN, Multipoint GRE and IPSEC tunnels.
Knowledge and understanding of complex media systems and workflows encompassing file ingest, encoding, transcoding and delivery.
Knowledge and understanding of broadcast engineering standards and equipment.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting IP Multicast traffic and QOS policies.
Experience with high speed UDP file transfer network service design.
