Overview /Objective:
The NFL's Next Gen Stats team is seeking an experienced analyst to help develop storylines using Next Gen Stats data in support of our various platforms at NFL Media including NFL Network, NFL.com and NFL Social Media. This position will work closely with Next Gen Stats Product and Engineering teams as new statistics are developed, and will function as a liaison between Next Gen Stats and NFL Media. The ideal candidate will have a background in statistics/analytics, is an avid football fan with extensive knowledge of the players/game and feels comfortable mining data for stories. This position requires some that is self-motivated and works well under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing storylines based on own research within large data sets
Collaborate with 3rd party Broadcasters to provide them with Next Gen Stats narratives and supporting data
Query database using SQL or Python to uncover new stats/splits when needed
Maintain and continue to improve Next Gen Stats research dashboards
Develop original storylines and data points that provide statistical analysis of events, news stories and topical issues.
Analyze league-wide macro and micro trend
Develop Next Gen Stats narratives and content for social media
Ensures accuracy of data before distribution
Salary / Pay Range

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience in sports research
Ability to quickly learn new systems and programs
Avid interest and knowledge of NFL football
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building analysis using football statistics
Proficient writing complex queries using SQL
Comfortable using Python
Experience using BI tools such as Tableau, and Quicksight

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:
Minimum 40 hours a week
May work overtime as needed (including Holidays)
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays (specifically Sundays in-season)
