NFL Media is looking for a freelance Media Ingest Operator at our West Coast Headquarters in Inglewood, CA to manage and record baseband feeds of our daily studio shows and remote sources. Feeds include NFL games, various daily network studio shows, press conferences, breaking news and larger NFL events, such as the Super Bowl, Thursday Night Football and NFL Draft.
This position works directly with several departments, including Transmission (TOC), Production, News Desk, Media Administration and Engineering, escalating any technical issues as they arise. Candidate also needs to possess advanced organizational skills, a strong work ethic, positive workplace approach and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment.
Essential Functions
Daily ingest of multiple baseband feeds to our EVS media ingest server within a fast-paced live broadcast production environment
Familiarity with IP Director, IPD-VIA, X-File and other tools within the EVS suite of applications
Clipping of feeds from local record trains on XS servers and delivery of those feeds to selected targets on the network
Familiarity with our Imagine Magellan SDNO video router system (or similar) and facilitate all routes from various sources within the facility to our EVS server ingest channels
Management of multiple Zoom, Facetime or Skype recording sessions, initiating those calls and ingests as requested
Detailed labeling of all incoming remote feeds and studio shows within our ingest platform, following standardized labeling conventions
Efficient communication over our intercom PL system and Slack to various groups throughout the facility, including Control Rooms, Transmission, News Desk and Media Administration
Ability to monitor audio and video signals to ensure quality control
Proficiency working in file-based workflows, including transferring, transcoding and processing of files
Required Education and Experience
Demonstrated experience with EVS, including IP Director, IPD-VIA, X-File and all other related applications within the EVS environment
Strong communication skills, including oral and writing skills, professional phone/intercom communication and responsiveness to emails and Slack messages. Monitoring the provided daily ingest grids and tracking daily feeds throughout the day from the grid
Preferred Education and Experience
BA Degree preferred and/or minimum of 5 years’ experience in broadcast industry experience
Other Key Attributes / Characteristics
Extensive knowledge of the NFL and College football. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of the NFL including team rosters and league activity. The ability to know the current rosters in the NFL and to be able to spell player's names accurately is a crucial skill in order to succeed in this role.
Independent problem solving and troubleshooting of any technical issues and effective communication to escalate any issues needing resolution to management
Possess a strong work ethic, emphasis to detail and a positive teamwork approach.
Comfortable in live network environment and remain focused under pressure.

Salary / Pay Range

Terms / Expected Hours of Work
This position a 24/7 broadcast facility, so shifts can be scheduled on weekend hours and holidays. Candidate must have a flexible schedule and be able to work off-hour shifts when needed.
