Position Summary:
This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing, and publishing content to the NBA's social and digital platforms and its many domestic and international partners throughout the world. As the demand for content on the NBA's social platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment, reaching social followers around the world. The ideal candidate is an active user of Meta platforms and products (Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, etc.) and is an expert on the on-platform features, the latest trends, and how to create optimized content for these platforms. This candidate also has their finger on the pulse of the NBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, and message boards and consuming short and long-form content about the NBA.
Major Responsibility:
Lead the NBA's Meta platform strategy, which includes: Making data-based decisions to optimize and maintain the NBA's content strategy across Meta platforms
Monitoring platform trends and brand health to make content decisions for the NBA's accounts on Meta platforms
Develop plans for all on-platform tools outside of general content publishing, including AR, Shopping, Guides, etc.
Working with the NBA Content Partnerships team on Meta opportunities
Manage publishing to the NBA's accounts and lead all aspects of a publishing team, which includes: Recruiting, hiring, and training the publishing team
Handling publishing team schedules
Educating the publishing team on the latest platform trends and analytics insights
Work with multiple teams internally to content plan for and to optimize the content on platforms, including the NBA Social Content Planning and Programming team, the Digital Strategy and Analytics team, the Video Content Creation team, the Content Design team, and, the Partner Integration team
Present strategy and insights to multiple internal teams
Required Skills/Knowledge:
3+ years of experience publishing across social and/or digital platforms
Knowledge of Meta platforms and products (Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, etc.) at an expert level - Understands all features of platforms outside of just publishing, including AR, Shopping, Guides, Groups, Horizon Worlds, etc.
Knowledge of the NBA at an expert level, and is passionate about the storylines surroundings its players, coaches, teams, statistics, standings, and history of the league, as well as an excellent understanding of basketball stats and analytics, the rules of the game and the history of the game
Experience creating basketball content
Strong understanding of the NBA's social voice
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department
Ability and willingness to work on deadline and balance multiple tasks at once with a detailed and thorough approach Ability to work independently but thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while handling critical tasks in a composed and timely manner
Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to and ability implement feedback given
An excellent teammate who collaborates effectively
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field preferred
