Position Summary

The Procurement Sourcing Lead will lead and actively participate in strategic sourcing activities across designated categories to achieve departmental goals and objectives, including cost savings and spend under management while delivering value beyond savings in areas such as supplier performance management, customer satisfaction, and process optimization. They will work closely with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to develop effective procurement strategies and implementation plans in support of the NBA's overall goals. The successful individual will leverage their proficiency to understand customer needs and drive results to achieve customer satisfaction. This position will report directly to the Head of Procurement.

Major Responsibility

  • Strategy Development & Execution: Develop and execute category strategy including the buying of goods/services, spend analysis, industry analysis, and market trends.

  • Create and manage end-to-end RFx's (Requests for Proposal, Quotes, and Information) in coordination with internal stakeholders utilizing various tools at your disposal.

  • Lead robust negotiation process for procurement of goods/services; work with stakeholders to create Statements of Work (SOW).

  • Support NBA Supplier Diversity goals by leveraging best practices, NBA community partners and personal networks to identify diverse suppliers for inclusion in RFx's and integrated into overall strategy.

  • Business Partner and Supplier Relationship Management: Lead or support periodic business reviews, monitor supplier performance, review root cause analysis and resolution; monitor supplier improvement plans.

  • Build constructive relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and needs; utilize information to document priorities and incorporate into category planning.

  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure understanding and alignment with key procurement strategies.

  • Contract Management: Work with business owners and Legal to create and negotiate vendor contracts including but not limited to Master Service Agreements (MSA), Nondisclosure Agreements (NDA) and Statements of Work (SOW).

  • Other / Miscellaneous: Leverage knowledge of best practices to review and maintain procurement policies, to optimize processes and to ensure business critical activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Other projects as assigned

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant strategic sourcing experience demonstrating success in positions of increasing complexity.

  • Experience with category management strategies, opportunity diagnostic, strategic sourcing process, and supplier relationship management with a proven track record of delivering business impact.

  • Highly motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset, proactive and innovative. Experience working effectively in complex organizations. Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Leverage market data, external expert resources, spend analytics and cost modeling to drive fact-based decision-making.

  • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder timelines and meeting management skills.

  • Develop and manage relationships across the business to achieve key business, organizational and cross-cultural objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop highly functioning business relationships at senior levels both within and outside the organization.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.

  • Ability to interact effectively and gain credibility with internal associates at all levels as well as external third parties.


  • BS/BA degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Finance.

  • Advanced degree a plus

Salary Range:

  • $115,000 - $135,000 Per Year
