Position Summary:

This position will act as the primary subject matter expert and lead the efforts across research, insights, knowledge and data management in support of the Marketing Partnerships and Media team.

This person will closely align with key internal stakeholders at the League as well as outside business partners in order to maximize the use of marketing analytics in support of the commercial business

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead partner research and measurement initiatives across the Marketing Partnership & Media (MP&M) team, acting as a strategy consultant in support of partner management, business development, partnership development and media teams to proactively identify opportunities and needs

  • Liaise closely with the Consumer and Fan Insights team (within the Global Strategy & Innovation group) on the strategy, planning, analysis and execution of key projects, including custom fan insights for partners/prospects, brand and partnership health studies, and cross-channel media measurement projects

  • Collaborate with internal account teams and external partners on developing measurable partnership KPIs

  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact within MP&M for knowledge and guidance around trends in consumer research, media measurement and industry intelligence resources and capabilities

  • Monitor fan and consumer trends to identify and develop insights with adaptations for NBA strategy for partnership growth and effectiveness In collaboration with the Consumer and Fan Insights team, manage relationships with research and sponsorship measurement agencies

  • Visualize and story tell with data to articulate narratives around NBA fans and the impact of associating with the NBA

  • Identify opportunities to expand capabilities through exploring new vendors, methodologies and tools/resources

  • Collaborate with the Consumer and Fan Insights team on adapting key research into dashboards using data visualization tools such as Tableau to help concisely summarize, visualize and build compelling storylines with data to articulate narratives around NBA fan profiles and partnership health

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with partner services management and research expertise

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Knowledge of current research and measurement tools as well as approaches and applications

  • Strong understanding of how brands and properties create partnership objectives, set KPIs and and measure success

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to convert complex findings into insightful, concise and easily digestible e-mails, reports and presentations

  • Ability to manage research & measurement budget and prioritize projects based on team and partner needs

  • Experience interpreting and packaging insights from both syndicated and primary data resources

  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills for both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to be flexible & adaptive is a must

  • Proactive, thorough, detail-oriented, creative, curious and highly organized

  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with high energy and team spirit

  • Must have strong organizational skills and be detail- and process-oriented

  • A passion for understanding consumer behavior

  • Able to visualize and tell compelling stories using a range of data sources

  • Ability to learn new tools quickly and often independently with minimal formal training

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills

  • Digital marketing knowledge/experience is a plus

  • Sports landscape knowledge is a plus

Education:

Undergraduate degree (BA or BS) preferred
