Position Summary:

NBA is looking for an experienced business leader and operator to join the global strategy team. In this high visibility role, you will be expected to conceive, contribute and create important elements of the NBA's multi-faceted ecosystem. Consisting of direct-to-consumer products and partner-managed experiences, the NBA is looking for a leader to identify opportunities and create plans to drive a healthy network of developers, partners and fans that can benefit from the NBA's exclusive platform and data. This role requires strengths in strategic thinking, business leadership, analytical & problem-solving skills, cross-group collaboration and executive communication skills. This position will play a key role in developing solutions that allow for automated and personalized messages that reach the customer at the right time on the right channel - and measuring the success of these efforts. You will work closely with stakeholders from cross-functional teams - engineering, operations, product, marketing, legal - to build and deliver solutions for the organization. You should be a problem solver and self-starter who can drive programs across external strategic partner organizations.

This group exists to connect dots and accelerate outcomes across verticals. The core goal will be to maximize productivity across revenue-generating initiatives based on need and use cases. The team is untethered to a specific function because you are accountable for driving (short-term and long-term) revenue across the organization by piecing together the right mix of people, process, and technology. The candidate will have deep experience driving end to end process transformation in large organizations, as well as a deep understanding of capabilities that enable customer engagement.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Partner with DTC, Marketing and Partnerships to develop, collaborate, and deliver the vision, strategy, and OKRs for the end-to-end Customer Journey across NBA businesses

  • Review new business opportunities to leverage data and technology across our direct-to-consumer, regions, and partner businesses

  • Envision end to end business and product plays, growth strategies that can delight customers, grow ecosystem vibrancy, health and drive business results

  • Collaborate across functions including engineering, finance, marketing & sales to both co-develop and drive cross org alignment on the plans to ensure buy-in, shared vision and execution priority

  • Define the long-term vision and product + services functionality needed to offer best in class marketing efficiency at scale for SMB and Enterprise partners alike Program Management for the onboarding and implementation of technology and capabilities that drive the NBA's global data strategy (which include CRM, Subscriptions, Advertising, Data Platforms, Messaging, Privacy, and Identity) and supporting new businesses in our ecosystem (sponsors, crypto)

  • Be hands-on with the product, the engineers, and the operators to make sure that there is extreme focus on the key problems to solve and coordination in solutions that are built

  • Delivers multiple software products/capabilities, ensuring alignment with the current and future architecture

  • Strategize with cross-functional stakeholders to drive product efficacy against company-wide objectives

  • Assess product opportunities and develop business cases for new partners, tools, products, and features (build vs. buy)

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of work experience within or across strategic planning, strategy consulting, data, product management, marketing, and/or business development

  • Exceptional business judgement using strong strategic thinking, customer centricity and appreciation for execution / operational excellence

  • Strong numerical fluency, analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to identify insights and drive high impact decisions

  • Excellent communication, leadership skills with the ability to influence at senior levels without authority to drive executive buy-in and alignment.

  • Strong expertise with CRM platform technology, ad tech, and data structures

  • Understanding of marketing operations processes, campaign setup, and server-to-server data integrations

  • Enterprise-level data orchestration experience

  • Experience in Build versus Buy decision making

  • Practical knowledge of Experimentation, A/B Testing, and Lift Measurement across marketing channels and web site personalization

  • Data-driven and an entrepreneurial problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity

  • History of successful partnerships with marketers, marketing operations, data scientists, and data analysts

  • Results-oriented leadership with humility, empathy, responsiveness, collaboration, and consensus-building Strong, influential cross-functional team leader with experience working in enterprise and matrixed environment


Bachelor's degree in related field required
