Position Summary:

This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing and publishing content to the NBA's digital platforms, with focus on constantly improving the creativity and user experience within the NBA App! As the demand for content on the NBA's social platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment, reaching over 100M fans around the world.

The ideal candidate for this role is a content design expert and a digital content strategist who understands the landscape and how to optimize content for each platform. They are capable of concepting innovative projects, while maintaining daily creative requirements, and always advancing the NBA’s social and digital brand. In addition, you have a proven record of teamwork and will effectively operationalize creative strategies as guided by the Head of Creative Design. With excellent project management skills, the ideal candidate is able to optimize content across platforms based on standard processes, understanding design guidelines, corporate priorities, and lastly, content performance metrics.

Lastly, you are ready to work in a fast-paced environment, with a basketball-obsessed team and want to make an impact immediately. The ideal candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, message boards and consuming short and long form content about the NBA.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support design strategy set by the Head of Creative Design, with focus on content published on the NBA App and NBA.com, including:

    • Detailed understanding of the creative style for the NBA to build a cohesive experience across platforms, as well as crafting guidelines to optimize content for a range of formats and modules across NBA digital properties

    • Manage digital creative budget effectively and maintain accurate tracking of a range of real-time digital graphics projects with aggressive delivery timelines

    • Ideating, creating briefs, requesting content from designers, establishing timelines and putting graphics content for digital products through accurate QA process

    • Continuously testing and optimizing content for performance improvements

    • Working with internal team members to develop content for NBA priorities and partner obligations

    • Project run a range of design requests simultaneously through completion

  • Support creative content team assignments, which includes:

    • Working with remote designers around the world, as well as in-house designers

    • Supporting workflows for the full team which includes developing rate cards with Head of Creative Design and setting up invoicing and payment processes

    • Support management of administrative requirements at the direction of Head of Creative Design

  • Support evolution of content design strategy, which includes:

    • Creating new content types and franchises that incorporate video, animations and static graphics to promote the NBA teams, players and storylines

    • Collaborating with content publishers to develop graphics content passionate about storytelling on the NBA’s players and the game

    • Taking feedback from senior leaders across the NBA team regarding graphics content

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 4+ years of demonstrated strong design skills, basic front-end development skills and solid news judgment

  • Candidates should have experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • Candidates should be able to edit video and should be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop)

  • Photo editing skills are required

  • Candidates should have strong organizational skills

  • This person will work across groups to plan and implement promotional images for NBA products seven days a week across several time zones

  • Experience with product design and production would be an advantage, but is not required

  • Experience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers

  • Comfortable working with remote teammates

  • Prior experience working on digital products, including mobile apps, websites & connected devices Must have knowledge of the game of basketball - past and present

  • Knowledge of sports media landscape is a plus

  • Previous experience working within content management systems

  • WordPress experience is preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends and holidays based on the NBA calendar

  • Must be a team player who can work collaboratively

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Digital Media or related field preferred
