Job Summary:

Responsible for work involving the operation, maintenance and repair of Bridgestone Arena equipment and maintenance including variety of HVAC, plumbing and electrical, lighting, life safety, climate control systems, and automated building control systems. This position is responsible for planning, assisting and overseeing that venue operations run smoothly and safely while remaining current on new methods of building operations. Initiative and independent judgment are required.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Works safely following and adhering to all safety/maintenance precautions, policies, and procedures; ensures adherence to OSHA and other applicable safety codes.

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair facility equipment included but not limited to i.e., air handlers, pneumatic control systems, refrigeration equipment, dehumidification equipment, life safety systems and controls, lighting systems and controls, energy management systems. (e.g. air handlers, compressors, ice resurfacer, and energy systems).

  • Perform repairs to food and beverage equipment including but not limited to i.e., ice machines, stoves/ovens, refrigerators.

  • Perform general ground maintenance including but not limited to snow removal, lawn sprinklers, parking lot and lights.

  • Maintain accurate records on all maintenance and repairs to the facility machinery and equipment i.e., floor scrubbers, snow removal equipment, forklifts, scissor lifts

  • Work with contracted vendors for various operations and maintenance needs as directed by the Director, Operations.

  • Maintains and keeps accurate records of inventory of facility operations equipment including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, spare parts, tools and equipment.

  • Maintain and update accurate facility operation/maintenance manuals.

  • Assist other operations departments to expedite tasks as needed including but not limited to event set up and maintenance of all event-related equipment.

  • Work hand in hand with our trade (plumbing, electrical, maintenance, HVAC).

  • Work hand in hand with contractors to verify work has been done to industry standards.

  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of electric, plumbing, carpentry, motor machines and computer controlled energy management systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma

  • A minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

  • Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing building/facility electrical, mechanical, HVAC or plumbing systems.

  • EPA License

  • HVAC Certificate

  • Proficient in MS Office i.e. Word, Excel.

  • Knowledge of the functions, operations, and equipment of a multi-purpose facility.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities including First Aid procedures.

  • Initiative and independent judgement to trouble shoot and solve unusual operating problems or matters involving external resources.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and effectively assist with supervising activities of the facility operations team.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with staff at all levels including supervisors, coworkers and sub-contractors and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Highly organized with good coordinating and project management skills.

  • Able to prioritize to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, evenings, weekends and some holidays.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Arena’s insurance carrier.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk/move around the facility, stand for long hours during events, talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk/stand extensively, kneel, climb to high walkways, balance, and maneuver to all areas of the facility safely.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms is required.

  • Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Work inside and outside the building is required, with possible exposure to adverse conditions.

  • Must be able to hear and speak to use a two-way radio.

  • Ability to wear face mask and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time.
