Nestled on more than 1,400 acres in the Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is a track rich in racing history. It has been the love of NASCAR racing and the thrill of a great time that has made it a favorite of race fans and drivers alike for more than 50 years. Michigan International Speedway has more than 12 campground and is the state of Michigan’s largest registered campground. In addition to two great weekends of racing, the speedway is home to events throughout the year including the MIS Backyard Hockey Tournament, Faster Horses Festival and Nite Lites.


  • NFPA FF1 or State Country Equivalent
  • Common sense, good judgment and the ability to think logically;
  • Reliability and punctuality. If you commit to a shift, be there and on time;
  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Apparatus Engineer

  • Includes but not limited to Pit Road, Garage, Fuel Island or On-Track Firefighting;
  • Responds to and renders assistance in emergency cases;
  • Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire;
  • Inspects equipment and apparatus and notifies Supervisor of any defects;
  • Keeps fire truck or designated area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition;
  • Participates in training activities and instruction sessions;
  • Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the race track, including station numbers, emergency district locations, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards and related items;
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with MIS policies and procedures;


  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Required to work some weekends
