The position of Assistant Manager, Event Security is a part-time position in the Target Field Security Department. The person in this position assists the Manager, Event Security with hiring and supervising Event Security officers to work with guests at all major events at Target Field. Duties include recruiting and interviewing; conducting training programs; scheduling and supervising offers on gamedays and at other events; and processing staff payroll.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits and interviews part-time seasonal Event Security personnel, and ensures that eligibility requirements are met and paperwork is complete prior to start of employment.

  • Assists in managing day-to-day operations of the part-time seasonal Event Security staff, including scheduling, supervision, and payroll processing for staff of 150+ during all major ballclub or Target Field Events.

  • As part of the internal Security Management Team, conducts appropriate staff training programs, internal safety/security drills and exercises, and contributes to the SMT's efforts relating to facility security and operations.

  • Ensures gameday security operations are in compliance with Major League Baseball requirements.

  • Participates in emergency response planning and training, and fills a leadership role as defined by internal emergency plans.

  • Coordinates inventory of security equipment and verifies equipment is functional and in good condition.

Requirements

Required Experience and Education:

  • 7 years of experience in Law Enforcement and/or Corrections. Law Enforcement experience within an agency with jurisdiction in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, or state jurisdiction in Minnesota is preferred.

  • Availability to work on-site for all Twins Major League home games, major concerts, other major events, and relevant staff training sessions and exercises is required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Security experience within Major League Baseball or an MLB club is preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, including experience with public speaking in a training environment.

  • Competency with Windows-based systems is required. Training on proprietary systems will be provided.

  • Experience/familiarity with standard security-systems (CCTV, access control, metal detection systems, etc.) is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.

  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.

  • Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of work day.

  • Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer, keyboard and telephone.

  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times.

  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to walk steps to visit fans during games.

  • Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, etc.

  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling.
