Position Summary: The Senior Engineer will lead development of internal tooling used by the coaching and front-office personnel. You will act as a full-stack engineer, as well as product manager to build sophisticated applications that help to power basketball decision-making.

Build beautiful internal tooling for use by coaches, scouts and the general manager of the Timberwolves.
Work with analysts and designers to build requirements, get feedback on mockups, and own the produce development lifecycle.
Write clean and well-documented code.
Review and debug code.
Assist VP of Basketball Analytics with other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:
Expert in web development, backend and front-end, with strong preference for candidates with Django expertise.
Ability to accurately translate ideas into code.
Rigorous adherence to first principles thinking. Purposeful effort to remove bias from decisions.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:
Full-stack engineering skills are required (Django strongly preferred; plus some familiarity with React or Vue).
Experience with SQL and relational databases is required.
Experience with a professional software engineering, documentation and code review.
Ability to think probabilistically and comfortable with uncertainty.
Must have a passion for the game of basketball.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Five or more additional years of work experience is strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position does not have supervisory responsibility .
This job operates along the schedule of an NBA team. Flexibility to sometimes work nights, weekends and holidays is required. This job can be either in-office at our team’s facility in Downtown Minneapolis or primarily remote. If remote, you will be expected to travel to the office a few times a year.
This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00PM. In addition to working office hours, this position typically works Timberwolves and Lynx home games as well as external events including but not limited to: charity and networking events. Work is both sedentary and active in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Office lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps and moderate noise levels .
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the building both on event days and non-event days. Staff may occasionally move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
This position will require some travel.
