Summary:

The Accountant will participate in the accounting of Arena Events, including Marquette Men’s Basketball games, Concerts, Family Shows, other Sporting Events and Private Events.

Responsibilities

  • Event Settlements – aggregate and reconcile all revenue & expenses for Arena events, settle events with promoters & tenants (Marquette), and prepare cash transfer worksheets.

  • Monthly Accounting -prepare monthly journal entries for arena events, review with supervisor & post to General Ledger, and prepare monthly worksheet for ticket surcharge payable to Wisconsin Center District.

  • Financial Planning – work with arena operational department heads and Accounting/Finance staff to review actual vs budget activity, and assist in preparation of budgets for future fiscal years

  • Audits – assist with all audits, including GAAP financial statement audit, NBA BRI audit, and NBA CFS audit, as applicable.

  • Foundation Accounting & Reporting – prepare monthly financial entries and reports, assist with year end audit and 990 compilation for Milwaukee Bucks Foundation and Mentor Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

  • Capital Expenditures – participate in completing Arena capital expenditure budget and maintain fiscal year-based tracking sheet vs budget.

  • Daily Processing – assist SVP Finance in reviewing & verifying vendor contracts and payments to ensure timely processing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • A minimum 4 years of Accounting & Finance experience.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

  • Experience creating Budgets and Forecasts (both short-term and long-term).

  • Ability to produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to working Event nights, including weekends.

  • Strong attention to detail skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Intermediate to advance excel skills

  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in an organized manner.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
