The Miami HEAT Broadcast Services department is seeking a Broadcast Network Technician! The Technician has a solid grasp of network architecture and routing experience with VXLAN overlay and layer 2 over layer 3 experience. This person is proficient in Linux, Mac, and Windows OS which will be used to facilitate and support a high capacity video over IP based production network. This position will also work multi-functionally and closely with the IT Infrastructure team regarding the Broadcast IP Network. The Broadcast Network Technician is responsible for daily diagnosing and provides multiple levels of maintenance, technical support and repair to the broadcast network.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  1. Installs, programs, operates and maintains broadcast network and servers applicable to television broadcasting, broadcast-related platforms and/or file-based workflows
  2. Develops capabilities & procedures for monitoring, alerting, change management, shared support, and automation
  3. Acts as the first-line point of escalation for the IT support team, broadcast engineering team, production team, and key users.
  4. Uses extensive knowledge and experience with digital audio and video IP technologies to facilitate high-speed network requirements for mass networked storage.
  5. Supports data transport and streaming technologies like Aspera including live streaming, and web technologies.
  6. Supports Broadcast related IT infrastructure including network switches, routers, KVM.
  7. Establishes, maintains and follows SOP for Broadcast Network in conjunction with IT infrastructure team.
  8. Assists Manager and Director of Broadcast Services with budget planning and developing of Broadcast Network in conjunction with IT infrastructure team.
  9. Works with vendors and keeps up with maintenance service contracts; acquires and schedules maintenance and instructional training of equipment and software as needed.
  10. Researches and evaluates new technologies and tools in the IP/Broadcast industry that can be used to improve our production efficiencies and quality.
  11. Leads multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities with good work ethic and positive attitude.
  12. Uses strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently.
  13. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  14. On-call availability as needed 24/7 to provide timely response to LIVE Event situations, equipment issues, etc.

Education and/or Experience

Must have 5 years of experience in network technology and broadcast television, big data, and/or IP technology environment for production.

BS or AS Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent certification and experience.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations

  • Advanced Network certification (Cisco, Juniper, etc.…)
  • Manufacturer-provided broadcast training from Sony, Evertz, Arista, or Quantum.
  • Software programming skills (HTML, V.B., C++, etc) Autocad, MS Office Suite, Visio experience.
