The Miami HEAT is looking for an A/V Manager responsible for supporting the day-to-day broadcast and a/v requirements and technicians at the HEAT Arena. We are looking for candidates with a background within the live event industry who can help deliver high quality technical results. This role is responsible for the maintenance and operational integrity of all systems and equipment associated with those needs including, but not limited to, LED video displays, IPTV systems, audio systems, video control assets, and end-user interfaces. The position requires the ability to strategically manage daily operations of the arena’s AV systems with a close attention to detail and be extremely organized. Must have a good solid understanding of event technology – audio speakers, mixers, microphones, LED systems, projectors, video equipment, audio / video recording technology and special effect lighting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  1. Responsible for all technical aspects of in-game operations for an NBA Basketball Game. Acts as Technical Manager for in-game operations of Press and Scorers tables at the event floor.

  2. Responsible for accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of audiovisual equipment as mandated by the NBA Game Presentation Manual.

  3. Coordinate, maintain and resolve any problems regarding officials precision time whistle/game clock system

  4. Serves as technical contact for special event audio/visual requirements. Maintains a positive relationship with all clients and provides excellent service striving to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers. Develops technical and production requirements for various events, including timelines, equipment, staffing and budgeting.

  5. Assist Director of Broadcast Services with service and maintenance of Arena facility equipment.

  6. Oversees and tracks all A/V equipment inventory. Ensures equipment is safe and secure from theft or damage when in use.

  7. Recruits, manages, supervises and schedules a team of Event Technicians. Acts as mentor; coaches and trains technicians on all department procedures and systems. Reinforces a positive working environment centered around company Culture and Playbook values.

  8. Works well with other departments including Arena Event and Operations to coordinate repairs and maintenance on systems to avoid impact to events

  9. Provides maintenance and repair of all LED systems ensuring functionality and the operation, including but not limited to replacing LED modules.

  10. Assist in the operation, maintenance and repairs of Arena special effect lighting systems.

  11. Assist in the operation, maintenance and repairs of Arena Sound systems.

  12. Assist with the programming and configuration of A/V control systems including the arena’s inhouse TV System (IPTV).

  13. Assist Basketball Operations with technical support regarding audio/video system

  14. Assist Broadcasting Department with technical support regarding Audio and video connectivity. Coordinate with networks and local broadcasters and other event day contractors to deliver and improve the quality of their shows using the arena’s equipment and infrastructure

  15. Build proposals for new AV equipment, services, or staffing as requested or needed

  16. Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
