CFG requires a Head of Technology Program Office who reports to the Director for Technology Program and Strategy to manage the whole portfolio of work for the Technology team conducting a small number of portfolio meetings covering the whole organisation. The role will be required to lead on the development of a realistic governance framework, a transparent culture and ultimately deliver solutions projects that underpin CFG’s strategic vision.

Working closely with members of the Technology team and the wider business you will be a trusted advisor on how an integrated program of work based on key business milestones. Budget, resource utilisation, timeline and throughput of releases will all be major metrics that you track, consider and challenge delivery teams on.

You will be great counsel for project managers and leaders with excellent instincts from extensive experience about the threats to a project, what is on the critical path, how to move a project back onto plan and how to present those things to key project stakeholders.

Role specific accountabilities:

  1. Lead the successful continuous delivery of a complex portfolio of technology projects across all of CFG

  2. Lead the continuous development of good quality project framework, reporting and presentation for senior stakeholders to ensure that transparency is regularly demonstrated and always available

  3. Engage with stakeholders right across the business on difficult questions such as prioritisation of budget or resource and removing blockages on projects using their expertise and extensive experience in delivering complex technology programs

  4. Advise and challenge senior stakeholders right across the business develop an integrated view of the Technology roadmap that considers the Group’s strategic objectives, optimisations of existing systems and the development and upgrading of foundational technology that underpins the architecture.

  5. Manage the project objectives of multiple projects with multiple project managers ensuring there is a good knowledge of the status of all projects

  6. A trusted and valued advisor and point of contact for project managers with projects that need corrective action where constraints, risks or issues are causing significant threat to the benefits and business case.

  7. Develop excellent working relationships and processes to manage important Systems Integrators in order that scalable delivery turns into successful technology operations

Role specific knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • More than 5 years experience in a PMO rol

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining a transparent framework of portfolio management

  • Experience of working with technology vendors, both very large established vendors and start-ups (and everything between).

  • Demonstrable experience of planning projects and critiquing a plan

  • Experience of delivering a portfolio that includes large waterfall projects and agile sprints

  • Demonstrable experience developing and honing relevant and pointed presentations for consumption of senior executives

  • Highly resilient

  • You will have a collaborative approach

  • Great at engaging with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • P3O certified at Foundation Level

Desirable:

  • P3O certified at Practitioner level

  • SCRUM Master

  • Prince 2 certification at Foundation level

  • Experience of JIRA
