Established in 1986, City in the Community Foundation is the registered charity of Manchester City FC and uses the brand of the parent Club to deliver award-winning programmes centred around Health, Education and Inclusion. The projects engage and impact over 20,000 lives in Manchester annually.

The purpose of the role is to supervise BTEC delivery at a specific site and lead a team of coaches. The role will include being responsible for the CITC use of the facility and mentoring all delivery coaches and students based at the site.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes:

  1. To support all BTEC staff at each venue and be responsible for planning and delivering practical football / sport sessions and syllabus on the BTEC programme to maintain high delivery standards.

  2. Work in partnership with Education Officer – Further and venue to schedule and facilitate CITC’s extra -curricular activities to provide a high-quality games programme.

  3. Work in partnership with Education Officer – Further with progress and reporting on set KPIs and outcomes associated with each project to develop, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with partner colleges.

  4. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all learners and to closely monitor attendance, punctuality and behaviour of learners at training sessions and match fixtures in a timely manner to drive the high standards of CITC and partner organisations.

  5. To consistently demonstrate role model behaviours with all 11+ staff, more specifically BTEC delivery staff. Ensuring professional and displaying the highest standards at all times.

  6. Lead on recruitment events for site and build links with local schools, football clubs and careers advisors. This will also include attending all parent evenings and career days/evenings to enhance CITC exposure.

  7. To plan and deliver high quality football sessions in a variety of community settings, mainly BTEC provision and team management, providing participants with excellent experiences.

  8. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with teaching staff and education providers to develop an innovative and exciting curriculum.

  9. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.

  10. Ensure that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • In-depth understanding of coaching within BTEC programmes

  • Experience of planning and delivering high quality coaching sessions and syllabus which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.

  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, colleges and educational stakeholders

  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club

  • GCSEs in English, Maths and Science

  • Minimum Level 2 (UEFA C) Coaching Certificate in Football

  • Competent across Microsoft office

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement

  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities


  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field (Education, Sports, Coaching)

  • Coaching Level 2 qualification in one other relevant sport

  • Level 3 (UEFA B) Coaching Certificate in Football

  • Remote line management
