The Senior Staff Accountant maintains financial reports and general ledgers. This position is responsible for preparing accounting activities related to the Soccer United Marketing financials, specifically focusing on the international match settlements, which includes the Mexican National Team matches held in the US as well as the Leagues new inter-league World Cup style tournament with LIGAMX. In addition, this role will be responsible for managing the accounting for the Leagues new broadcast initiative with Apple. This person will also assist with reporting and additional accounting support to the finance department.
Responsibilities
Manage all internal and external international match settlement accounting
Review game-day trial balances monthly to verify proper coding of expenses
Manage all internal and external broadcast production expenses
Work closely with various departments and FP&A Team
Assist in month end close and preparation of match financial statements
Assist with the accounting of Sponsorship and Licensing revenue
Manage balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
Process and record monthly journal entries and accruals
Research variances to budget
Assist in overall monthly and year-end close process
Assist in other ad-hoc projects
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
3-5+ years of experience in accounting/finance

Desired Skills
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar accounting software a plus
Experience with Hyperion Essbase/SmartView or similar financial reporting software a plus
Total Rewards
Starting Base Salary $75,000 - $85,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
