As a freelance Social Media Editor at Major League Soccer/ MLS NEXT Pro, you’ll work alongside the content team to help position the league as the most innovative sports brand in social media. Your role will focus on crafting and distributing social content (video, images, GIFs, text, and more) on @MLSNEXTPro on matchdays.
This position is remote, with the opportunity to potentially work out of MLS offices (contingent on return-to-office plan) if local to NYC. Position will work up to 15 hours per week during the MLS NEXT Pro season.
Create and distribute content for MLS NEXT Pro social media, including but not limited to: Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms
Social media coverage and support during game days/evenings/weekends
Write engaging social copy for MLS NEXT Pro social media channels
Build graphics (working from templates), animated GIFs, videos, and other visual content that align with the user habits within each community
Matchday monitoring, management and maintenance of the MLS social media communities
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Ability to work during majority of match days Outstanding knowledge of MLS and North American international soccer (USMNT, CANMNT) Passionate about providing fans with an excellent digital experience by listening, interacting and producing innovative content Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite + current access to Adobe tools including Photoshop Innovative demeanor and creative spirit High attention to detail High level of dedication to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance Ability to work optimally in a fast paced, team environment Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Proven decision making and problem solving skills Meticulous with the ability to multitask Availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Desired Skill Business proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required. Hourly rate is $22/hr.
