With the biggest soccer event coming to North America in 2026 and the continued growth and success of soccer in the U.S., we are passionate about representing a diverse culture on and off the field. Soccer United Marketing (SUM) is seeking a results-driven manager to be oversee the strategic partnership with the Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF) / Mexican National Teams. This position will work hand in hand with the Vice President, International Properties to build and implement the strategy to capitalize the most important commercial/sporting cycle of the FMF property yet. This team member will specifically help lead the relationship with FMF.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategic relationship with the Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF), inclusive of the development and maintenance of communication and work processes to build effective and successful relationships with commercial and technical teams

  • Manage and ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations of our MRA with FMF

  • Deliver strategic long-term planning for the property including:

    • Manage and lead internal and external weekly meetings with FMF and SUM departments.

    • Organizing monthly internal meetings and strategic presentation materials to keep SUM’s departments updated on initiatives for the upcoming 9-12 months

    • Organizing bi-annual Joint Commercial planning meetings and strategic presentation materials in collaboration with FMF and internal team

  • Work collaboratively with internal area experts, manage and shepherd the growth and monetization of commercial business areas, including, but not limited to, Match business, sponsorships, content, digital/social media and consumer products

  • Create connectivity and alignment on strategic initiatives between internal departments.

  • Assist in the development of commercial packages, ideate, identify and support the development of new integrated sponsorship opportunities, inclusive of the co-development of new sponsor platforms and packages

  • Develop and oversee execution of annual business plans that support the 2026 commercial strategy

  • Build relationships with regional and international soccer stakeholders, identifying new value, opportunities, and solutions

  • Become the internal Mexican National Team, and regional soccer business expert, serving as a consulting resource for all internal departments that is equipped to provide solutions, based on property knowledge.

  • Source, prepare and distribute relevant, real-time market intelligence to senior management and key stakeholders and report on key success metrics.

  • Share P&L responsibility to net positive growth

  • Manage relationship and contract with Talent Agencies to better integrate players in commercial packages.

  • Responsible for creating, packaging, and negotiating a 2023-26 plan for the MMNT games played outside the U.S. (Reverse production and other media exposure opportunities)

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required; MBA or Master’s degree is a plus

  • 5+ years of professional sponsorship, marketing and international business experience. In Sports, Entertainment, and/or Arena Industry experience preferred.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) with bicultural experience in Mexico and the U.S

  • Self-starter, and team player with the ability to work against both high level individual and department financial goals

  • Strong presentation skills (Story telling and development of presentation materials)

  • Outstanding PowerPoint and presentation-building skills, with understanding of visual design principles

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines autonomously

  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of sports entities, entertainment, and sponsorship, including marketing and promotion, events, media, and contracts

  • Superior business and negotiating skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues, federations, agencies, and other sports and entertainment organizations

  • Familiarity with the standard demographic research & analytics tools (i.e., Scarborough, YouGov, MRI-Simmons, etc.) and ability to derive insights from the data

  • Ability to motivate, navigate and collaborate with counterparts in other functional areas including other departments that require meaningful interaction including Match Business, Marketing, Partnership Marketing, Brand Alliances, Partner Solutions and Insights, Media, Digital, Operations, Security, Consumer Products, Legal, and Finance

  • Experience with the development and execution of effective sponsorship and commercial platforms

  • High-level commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance

  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Desired Skills (but not required):

  • Experience or familiarity working with agencies involved in sports, especially soccer in Mexico

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $75,000 – $85,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
