Major League Soccer is the top-flight men’s professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. We aspire to be one of the top leagues in the world, as defined by our quality of play, the passion of our fans, the relevance of our clubs and the value of our enterprise. In 2023, the league will be comprised of 29 clubs, with ongoing plans to expand to 30 clubs, will play the new and annual Leagues Cup tournament, and launched its worldwide streaming and marketing partnership with Apple.

Major League Soccer’s historic Apple partnership will allow fans to stream every MLS match through the Apple TV app worldwide. The new streaming service will also feature MLS NEXT, MLS NEXT Pro and Leagues Cup matches, alongside a rich offering of League, Tournament and Club content.

As part of this new partnership, MLS will be responsible for producing all live match and studio content for MLS Season Pass. The Director, On-Air Talent will be responsible for identifying top tier talent in the US and Canada as we broadcast in English, Spanish, and French.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, audition and select new talent for the League

  • Lead the day-to-day assignment scheduling of on-air talent

  • Negotiate all talent contracts and work with key collaborators (e.g. Media, Legal, Finance, Human Resources, etc.) to ensure that contracts, agreements, documents, etc. are properly completed

  • Lead contract renegotiation process

  • Develop and manage departmental budget, tracking all talent-related costs and managing talent expenses

  • Provided on-site management and support for talent at the studio, in stadiums, and at various other special events

  • Act as the point of contact for talent related inquiries

  • Collaborate with vendors to manage talent related travel, assisting with travel arrangements and coordination as needed.

  • Book high-profile guests, including athletes, coaches and celebrities for additional programming

  • Involve others early and collaborate to accomplish results; be a proactive leader and decision-maker

  • Accomplish results by communicating job expectations and managing the Performance Management process:

  • Develop talent and provide performance feedback

  • Mentor and counsel employees;

  • Develop and implement procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies

  • Build and maintain positive industry relationships with talent, agents, publicists, and managers

Qualifications

  • Experience managing budgets, vendor and agency relationships.

  • Outstanding organization, project management skills and attention to detail

  • High level of dedication to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Demonstrated decision making skills and solutions oriented

  • Diligent with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal direction

  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer

  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)

  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $115,000 – $150,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
