The Playback Services team at Major League Baseball is looking for engineers to join our Costa Mesa, CA office. The Playback Services team is a core contributor to the MLB streaming platform and designs, develops, and operates services powering a variety of streaming products.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with other world-class engineers, product developers, and designers; contribute to award-winning and complex apps and systems; influence the innovation of products used by millions globally; support all 30 MLB clubs and work in a highly collaborative, results-oriented, team environment.

Using cutting edge technology, our software is consumed by fans, operation centers, broadcasters, stadiums, MLB Clubs and the League itself. We are looking for Software Engineers that are passionate about building new technologies for the baseball industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing high availability distributed systems

  • Exposure to Event Driven systems, patterns, and best practices

  • Experience working with containerized cloud platforms (Docker/Kubernetes and GCP/AWS) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)

  • Experience building streaming media pipelines and players for live/VOD content

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing and maintenance)

  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to drive technical excellence and product development

  • Take ownership of streaming products and develop tools to continuously improve stream quality/delivery

  • Write clean, concise, modular code that is easily testable and scalable

  • Mentor early career team members
