Position Summary: MLB Network is looking for a Manager, IT Infrastructure with system knowledge across several technical domains like Unix/Linux, Windows, Networking, Virtualization, and have a track record of leading teams that deliver infrastructure at scale. Ability to transform designs ground up and lead innovation in system design. Structured thinking and problem-solving skills, along with exceptional communication abilities will be crucial for success in this role as you build strong teams that partner with engineering and operations teams across MLB Network.
This is a highly technical hands-on leader who is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, security, and reliable operations of the Networks infrastructure, cloud environments, disaster recovery plan, servers, networks, phone systems. The Sr. Manager, IT Infrastructure leads infrastructure planning and projects, manages vendors, and makes recommendations to improve IT infrastructure and environments, and partners with the Director, IT to develop the annual infrastructure budget.
Responsibilities:
Lead and grow a team of systems Administrator and Engineers developing and maintaining key infrastructure services used across MLB Network.
Implement modern IT Ops and SRE practices.
Build roadmaps for the next generation of infrastructure at MLBN IT. Work with leadership and senior engineers to develop and transform IT infrastructure into compelling products and services. Develop and own the roadmap for the development and evolution of the infrastructure that is appropriate for current needs as well as for future scalability.
Responsible for reviewing and evaluation of major workload issues, work procedures and staff skills in order to maintain quality standards.
Responsible for promoting the development and growth of his/her team.
Drive efforts to streamline and evolve systems, services, tools, and processes in support of optimizing service capabilities.
Oversee the planning and supporting for ongoing maintenance of IT infrastructure, ensuring minimized down time and all house-keeping jobs are executed effectively.
Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most, if not all, of the following skills and experience:
10+ years industry experience.
5+ years managing technical teams, including experience recruiting and performance management.
5+ years of experience in infrastructure design and architectural leadership.
Collaborative approach and strong problem-solving skills to work with leaders across organizational and technical domains.
Ability to influence and hold others accountable to drive decisions and deliver results.
The ability to communicate confidently and clearly to all levels.
Knowledge of project management practices and methodologies.
Expert of standard infrastructure components like virtualization, Linux, Windows etc.
Experience working in a hybrid on-prem and public cloud environment.
Deep understanding of data center architectures, networking, storage solutions, and scale system performance
Experience managing large scale virtualized environment with a mix of VM’s running both windows and Linux.
Background with Automation and Monitoring platforms, devops practices and configuration Management platforms.
Deep understanding of Network services like DNS, LDAP, AD.
Implementing reliable and scalable automation solutions using out of box thinking, delivering high quality end user experiences.
Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in a pressurized live television environment and live digital environment.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand, and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
Possess a level of hearing sufficient for effective interaction with stakeholders by various mean, including in-person, via phone, etc.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
