Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Global Media Sales and Partnerships, the Senior Director will play a key role in strategic planning and tactical execution with international media partnerships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design annual and long-term business plans and manage budget process for MLB’s International Media Business

  • Lead negotiations for new business and renewals of international media partnerships with the goal of maximizing revenue and securing proper distribution for MLB games and content

  • Strategically identify, evaluate and execute on local and regional business opportunities across markets globally

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and executives from current and potential media partners

  • Serve as a key international point person on media partnerships and collaborate with all relevant internal stakeholders, including MLB’s remote offices, Global Events, Sponsorship and Marketing

  • Work closely with Legal and Finance teams to assure promptness and efficiency in contract and budget process

  • Lead and develop the Manager, International Media Partnerships

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Eight (8) or more years of directly relevant professional experience, ideally in the sports media rights space

  • Demonstrated track record of successful deal making

  • Extremely well-developed negotiating skills

  • Proactive sales approach

  • High level of emotional intelligence and a Team First orientation

  • Strong organization skill, with attention to detail

  • Polished communication skills, with a focus on clean, concise presentation of data

  • Ability to provide efficient, timely updates to appropriate stakeholders, including MLB leadership and colleagues, partners and prospective partners

  • Ability to travel as necessary, including international travel. Travel is estimated as 10-20%.

  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
