Oversee Partnerships, representing the MLB brand through co-marketing collaborations that elevate MLB with measurable results across diverse domestic, multicultural and global audiences in the fashion, art, and travel verticals
Manage influencer+celebrity outreach and creator marketing initiatives to drive audience engagement and awareness across MLB initiatives and jewel events
Aligns with MLB Global Music team to connect music partnerships and outreach to overarching MLB Culture and Brand initiatives
Translates MLB brand values into select brand partner activations that reach defined audience targets, working closely with Brand Management to continuously refine the brand message and with Sponsorship to identify the most relevant partners for MLB brand expression
Engages with senior level MLB leaders to continually align Brand Partnership goals
Surveys and stays ahead of themes developing in culture and proactively brings forward new verticals for MLB to forge strategic partnerships within
Supports development of the annual Brand Partnership Plan, integrating multiple teams to achieve visible and measurable increases in brand perception
Manages Editorial Council and content cultural Calendar; includes activation of key content concepts across the MLB owned and operated channels, while identifying external cultural outlets that align with approved content
Liaises with marketers in MLB’s international offices and all 30 MLB clubs to concept, build and execute strategic partnerships that allow for an integration activation across the sport
Effectively partners with the Global Events team to pull through marketing and league initiatives that transcend 9-innings of baseball as MLB looks to connect in more places and spaces with fans of the future
Provides regular updates on partnerships across the organization; liaises closely with Communications on press opportunities to leverage partnership value
Seeks input across Brand + Experiential Marketing, Creative + Content Marketing and Audience Development + Marketing Operations teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of higher order Marketing Department
Qualifications and Skills
A proven marketer with an established Brand Partnerships network as well as an innate acumen for driving cultural relevance through marketing partnerships.
Track record in understanding how to both respond to, as well as drive, the zeitgeist - cultural quotient must be high.
Successful experience in representing and negotiating on behalf of high-profile brands and/or media; ability to represent a voice of the brand in a commercial context.
Strong communication and influencing skills – including the ability to listen; needs to effectively communicate vision and objectives to a diverse group of stakeholders.
High degree of flexibility in approach – able to balance structure and process with the needs of a creative and dynamic environment.
Unique ability to balance analytical rigor with a bias for action - with a predisposition to produce fast, practical recommendations.
Strong ability to recruit diverse, dynamic talent, with experience in people management.
Extensive agency and vendor management experience.
Low Ego – equally comfortable giving or receiving direction, leading or contributing as appropriate, driving executive conversations or supporting as necessary.
High EQ – strong ability to 'read the room' and adjust approach, management tactics, and communication style as appropriate.
10 or more years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
An understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of baseball is a plus.
