We are seeking a Manager, Audience Development & Planning to develop and build audience-centric marketing plans in support of MLB’s goal of growing baseball’s fan base. The scope of this role will include lead generation and lead nurture program strategy as well as audience-centric programs to drive Club ticket sales and overall engagement between Fans and Clubs.

As an integral part of MLB’s Digital Marketing & Media team, the newly formed Audience Development & Planning function enables strategic planning centered around key MLB Fan segments. In this role, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to build and execute innovative and effective integrated marketing programs driven by audience insights.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build comprehensive audience-centric marketing plans, across paid and owned channels, reaching key audience segments with the most engaging messages, to achieve business goals

  • Manage and coach a direct report

  • Create omnichannel customer journeys for fan acquisition and retention

  • Manage fan engagement programs, growing registered users – especially among key audience growth segments, in partnership with Brand Marketing and Sponsorship teams

  • Establish new ways for MLB to grow its zero-party and first-party data

  • Be a champion for MLB fans, ensuring messaging is targeted, engaging, and relevant

  • Create audience-centric creative briefs, ensuring messaging needs for each targeted audience – along with all deliverable needs – are clearly articulated

  • Partner with Analytics teams to identify audience insights and learnings

  • Collaborate with leaders both inside and outside MLB Marketing to continuously improve processes

  • Work closely with leaders in Club Marketing, Player Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Operations, Sponsorship, Legal, and others to ensure the flawless execution of each program

  • Keep a pulse on the sports, media, and entertainment marketing best practices and trends

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, business strategy, communications, or equivalent work experience

  • 6+ years of experience in a data-driven marketing role

  • Experience building audience-centric marketing strategies and programs, leveraging paid, earned, and owned media channels

  • Success building strategic customer journeys for both acquisition and retention marketing

  • Compelling communication and storyteller skills with strong written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects

  • Strong organizational skills with experience using project management software

  • Self-starter who identifies needs and proactively develops solutions & recommendations to address them

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels (including senior executives) and across various departments

  • Understanding of various media channels and platforms with an emphasis on digital, mobile and social media

  • Experience working on advertising, marketing and/or public relations campaigns

  • Strong understanding of baseball – MLB, Clubs, and players – is preferred
