Position Summary: The Staff EVS Operator will ingest and clip playouts using EVS and program servers. In addition, the EVS Operator will support the other Staff and Freelance EVS Operators by fulfilling daily EVS work assignments, break schedules, and maintenance windows. The Staff EVS Operator may also provide input to the Lead EVS Operator in matters related to staffing, training, and scheduling incoming EVS Operators. This position will be expected to regularly work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Effectively create, edit, build, and playback highlight files in support of live and taped shows.
Effectively produce highlight clips in a constantly changing, fast-paced, and live production control room environment, working collaboratively with production clients, and following instructions as given by the Lead EVS Operator, show directors, and operations staff.
As directed by Lead EVS Operator, manage EVS builds for designated MLBN programming.
Archive and restore clips for in-house and remote usage.
Assist Lead EVS Operator in basic and regular troubleshooting of the EVS systems.
Work with engineering on troubleshooting of EVS issues.
Assist Lead EVS Operator as needed in providing training and workflow orientation for new MLB Network EVS hires.
Perform daily EVS work schedules, including breaks and specific show and control room assignments.
Monitor and manage ICR/EVS workflows.
Occasional travel to domestic and/or international assignments as required.
Other such duties as required.
It is expected that the EVS Operator will maintain and increase the knowledge base in the Operations discipline as well as the business on an ongoing basis.
Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:
A minimum of 5 years prior EVS studio or remote experience is required.
Fluent knowledge of the EVS platform is required. EVS Course certification is required.
Working knowledge of X File3, IP Director, X-Square and program servers is required.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative, and have the ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
The individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements.
Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to occasionally travel to domestic and/or international assignments as required.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Visual acuity to effectively work in environments with varying degrees of light and darkness.
Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
Possess a level of hearing sufficient for effective interaction with stakeholders by various means, including in-person, via Riedel, phone, etc.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
