The Director, Marketing Technology & Digital Operations is a member of the Digital Marketing & Media leadership team, and is primarily responsible for guiding MLB Marketing’s AdTech/MarTech stack strategy. The individual in this role will have responsibility for evaluating, recommending, and managing Marketing Technology platforms enabling omnichannel marketing automation solutions, focused on growing and nurturing key audience segments.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • 4 year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field and 10+ years experience in marketing or related functional area; OR equivalent relevant experience

  • 5+ years specific MarTech experience (working with Digital Advertising and Marketing Technologies, Project Management, Programming); in-depth knowledge of the marketing technology landscape, data implications, the product players, and their capabilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the end-to-end digital marketing tactical execution flow from lead gen, engagement, conversion to retention to achieve MLB organizational and marketing goals

  • Experience and subject matter expertise in marketing leading solutions such as Google Marketing Platform, Adobe Experience Cloud, Zeta Global, etc.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and SQL (preferred)

  • Experience scaling and scoping large and small digital technology focused projects

  • Strong knowledge in campaign management, optimization, 3rd party ad serving and trafficking

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conducting Core Work Activities

  • Drives and manages the execution of MLB’s Marketing Technology strategy

  • Serves as the senior technical resource for MLB’s digital marketing department

  • Leads evaluation and roadmapping of products and tools to align with fan engagement and growth goals; drives RFP process to evaluate and select best-in-class MarTech tools

  • Manages the technical relationship with MLB’s advertising and marketing technology partners (marketer/buy side) and actively works to identify new business opportunities and processes

  • Manages activities with MLB’s marketing technology platforms: Paid Media Channels, Data Collection & Audience Segmentation, Reporting & Analytics, Creative, Email, Ad Server, Tag Management, Workflow Management, Brand Safety Technologies, etc.

  • Focuses on technology adoption/testing to increase efficiencies across all paid media channels

  • Partners with colleagues to determine technical feasibility, implementation approach, deployment strategies, and QA efforts

  • Encourages and contributes to forward-thinking strategy development and approach for Marketing Technology trends

  • Collaborates with Marketing Analytics, Performance Media, Data Engineering, Product, Technology, Front End Web Development and other internal teams to translate business goals into technical strategy and roadmap

  • Manages the Digital Advertising Technology & Operations team responsible for day-to-day ad serving maintenance, ad trafficking and site tag management

  • Oversees the AdTech/MarTech budget management including forecasting and tracking expenses

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
