The Director of Accounting and Shared Services will have primary oversight to the shared service functions of accounts payable and employee expense reimbursement. This role is responsible for maintaining a system of accounting records and a set of controls designed to mitigate risk; the accuracy of transactions being processed; and the timeliness of payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directs and oversees the daily accounting operations of the AP and expense reimbursement including review of disbursements for payments and expense reports, monitoring of accounts payable aging reports, and ensuring accounts payable queues are being managed effectively and efficiently

  • Ensure that all suppliers are paid in accordance with agreement terms and coded accurately before being transferred to the general ledger.

  • Assists in the design and implementation of process improvements, including standardization, enhancements and potential automation of existing processes and systems. Promotes best practices over financial and non-financial information across the accounting organization

  • Leads, mentors, and ensures engagement of direct reports and their respective teams and works to establish short-and long-range goals and objectives for both the function and the employees

  • Collaborate with business owners and suppliers to ensure policies and procedures are effectively communicated and followed.

  • Delivers and reports on KPI metrics for accounts payable and employee expense reimbursement functions that will identify opportunities and enhance visibility for business strategies

  • Assists in the preparation of the accounts payable close process and related reporting deliverables, including reviewing all reconciliations as they pertain to accounts payable and expense related transactions and aging reports to ensure the accuracy of the financials

  • Manages or assists as necessary the master data elements for vendors, including credit lines, payment terms and banking information

  • Manage compliance and process of 1099 return preparation

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 4-year college accounting degree

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines

  • Self-starter, detailed oriented and a team player

  • Strong communication skills
