ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for MLB Club medical staffs (athletic trainers, physical therapists, team physicians for player medical and injury research topics, including the electronic medical records system.

  • Assist with Electronic Medical Records Compliance Program, including auditing player medical records and communicating with Clubs to ensure players have complete and accurate medical records.

  • Work with MLB technology on the development, testing and implementation of the electronic medical records system, including identifying improvements that will improve the quality of player, staff and umpire medical records.

  • Assist with the logistics for the league-wide COVID testing program to ensure test results are returned in a timely and efficient manner

  • Work with EMR vendor to develop and implement online application for monitoring player and staff temperature and symptoms

  • Work with Club medical staffs and outside consultants to analyze league-wide injury data and design studies to better understand risk factors and prevention strategies for player injuries

  • Work with Draft Operations and International Operations groups to design and implement medical and performance testing for amateur scouting initiatives, such as MLB Draft Combine.

  • Other projects as assigned by Manager, Medical & Equipment

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Must be a college graduate; a background in science or pre-med studies a plus

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong quantitative background including experience working with large datasets and performing complex analysis

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Must work well independently and collaboratively

  • Strong analytical skills, including with Microsoft Office

  • In-depth knowledge of baseball, sports medicine, and medical research
